SC-0063: So… Let’s start out simple. What is your name? 

P-236: Delaney of the… I mean Adrian Delaney, self-proclaimed champion of Badminton.  

SC-0063: Quite. So... First Lieutenant and Combat and Recon Pilot of the 27th Squadron. Your record as a serviceman is quite impressive.  

P-236: That's the overstatement of the century. Look whatever you’ve heard or read in that manila is just protocol to make the top brass look good. Under their fine leadership they made a mess with an idiot like me.

SC-0063: I have to disagree. It says here that you made First Lieutenant when you were 21, and even more impressive, you became a full-fledged combat pilot within a year of graduation. That’s quite a feat for someone your age. 

P-236: Hardly. We were just Denver kids with a dream to fly more than anything. I wanted to be just like… Well… Look where that dream’s gotten me, the Nubmaster. 

SC-0063: 2028, Sri Lanka. I just read the summary of your discharge last year. It’s a shame really. So early in your military career…  

P-236: Haha, rest assured I don’t miss the view of those assholes in the horizon. 

SC-0063: Hmm… J. Delaney? A relative of yours? Can you add any more details about the incident? 

P-236: …

SC-0063: Something wrong?

P-236: …I’d just rather not disclose that information sir. 

SC-0063: Of course. This is at your own discretion after all and we respect the privacy of each applicant.  

P-236: …Thank you sir. 

[Further research on this matter revealed that Jeannie Delaney commandeered the 27th Squadron that the subject served under during Mission SLATE. J. Delaney was also the subject’s older sibling. The report mentions a charge of manslaughter that was dropped after the subject was dismissed from active duty.] 

SC-0063: Ahem. Well, what do you hope to accomplish by participating in this project? 

P-236: I’d be lying if I said I was here for king and country. No. I came here as a civilian, not as a soldier with a soldier’s purpose. No. People like me, we don’t deserve to pursue noble missions like that. My arm. I heard that this so called “SYSTEM” can make anything happen.  

SC-0063: The SYSTEM can do many things−

P-236: Then I want it back. I want to get my arm back. 

SC-0063: Is that all you wish for? 

P-236: Yes… I mean, well, I can’t have the kids back home beating me out in soccer. 

SC-0063: But you only use your feet in that sport.
